An MCA who is a staunch ally of Kajiado governor Joseph Ole Lenku is under siege following rebellion by youthful county government employees on a mission to unseat him in 2022.
Dalalekutuk ward representative Ntaati Lesere, once an electrifying politician with unrivaled backing from political heavyweights including Lenku, now stands on shaky ground as the group christened Vugu Vugu runs the show.
Vugu Vugu is composed of ambitious youth identifying itself with a group of disgruntled county employees and several other youth activists opposed to Lesere’s leadership whom they termed as dominated by witchhunting.
The MCA has been accused of using his powerful network within the county government to orchestrate downfall of county officials not willing to play by his rules.
Trouble started when he recently championed for the sacking of a senior officer at the roads department, who ostensibly refused to be armtwisted by the MCA in some of the lucrative tender deals.
The officer survived the sack but found himself in a lesser department, sparking off an instant bitter fallout between the MCA and his new tormentors.
Weekly Citizen is reliably informed that efforts to have the officer fired were thwarted following a timely intervention by the county secretary Samuel Seki who instead wrote a transfer letter.
Seki has expressed caution over his action to overrule the sacking of the officer and is not comfortable with the transfer matter being discussed publicly as it may irk the governor and his blue-eyed boy MCA Lesere.
The embattled MCA and the marked county staff come from the same Ilatayiok subsection of the larger Oroo-Kiteng section and many have been left wondering what could have triggered the kind of blood chilling hatred the politician has been portrayed towards his village mate.
However some keen observes have traced friction between the MCA and Vugu Vugu to the controversial succession of the county public service board when board member Joseph Nailole retired.
Vugu Vugu group had advanced an idea that the seat should be retained by an individual from the former members of Ilomelian clan but the MCA scuttled the plot.
Through his powerful barons in the county system he ensured that the said individual identified by his opposers did not even reach shortlisting stage despite being qualified for the position.
Ntaati has also been accused of being behind a plot to oust speaker Johson Osoi from office last year.
Osoi is also his village mate and the MCA is now seen as a man digging a deep political grave by targeting his own village mates in unending wars based on personal interests.
The stage has been set for political fireworks in Dalalekutu ward as the emerging Vugu Vugu group vows to teach the incumbent an everlasting political lesson but in a quick rejoinder the MCA has countered maintain he was not shaken by the group which according to him will not sustain his political network backed by people who matter.
