A fierce court battle between two tycoons based in Tala town, Machakos county involving a multi-million land deal has landed in the courts. However, plans are underway to have the matter settled amicably. Former KDF soldier, William Mutiso alias Sicas, with investments across Machakos county, has waged a legal battle against a local tycoon Samuel Muathe alias Saminico, who he claims swindled him Sh2.9 million in land fraud. At one time, Saminico was arrested following a complaint lodged at KBC Police Station officers. He appeared before Kangundo senior resident magistrate Martha Opanga and pleaded not guilty to the charge of obtaining money by false pretence contrary to Section 313 of the penal code.

The charge against the businessman states that on diverse dates between May 24 2013 to April 3 2014 at Tala township of Matungulu sub-county within Machakos county, jointly with others not before the court, with intent to defraud, falsely obtained from Mutiso Sh2.9 million by falsely pretending he could sell the said client 60 plots from mother title number Matungulu Sengani 3470, a fact he knew to be false. He was released on Sh50, 000 cash bail and a surety of Sh200,000. Since then, behind-the-scene moves by friends of the duo to reconcile them have been initiated.
