Kirinyaga MCAs link to burnt Sh2m solar power

Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers have opened files on two MCAs in Kirinyaga suspected to be linked to the burning of government property worth Sh2 million.

The MCAs spent time at Wang’uru Police Station recently. They were grilled for more than five hours. Weekly Citizen has information that the probe surrounds the burning of solar power system.

Sources say the local security team is worried that the solar project was officially launched by Interior principal secretary Karanja Kibicho in 2018 who is their boss. We could not establish if Kibicho is aware of the burning down but other sources say that he was briefed and immediately inquired forcing the crackdown on suspects.

The sabotage move has seen power supply to two rice and maize flour mills operated by Nganya Women Group grounded.
