What is controversial Gatundu MP Moses Kuria up to?
Having somehow fallen out of the Tangatanga squad, the MP has now focused his eyes on the Kiambu gubernatorial seat.
This came out when Kuria hosted leaders at Ruiru stadium during the launching ceremony of a popular Kikuyu radio/TV family affairs counselor Anne Muratha’s Boy Child project.
According to sources present at the ceremony which kicked off at 1pm, what raised eyebrows was the guest list. On his twitter page Kuria wrote:
“Today, I hosted fellow leaders led by Nairobi governor Mike Sonko, MPs Simon Kingara (Ruiru), Simon Mbugua (Eala), Kanini Kega (Kieni), Nyeri speaker John Kaguchia, MCAs led by host Elijah Njoroge for the Anne Muratha thanksgiving concert at Ruiru Stadium.” Prominently “absent” from the Kuria tweet was former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga who sat at the front row next to the Biashara ward “host” Elija Njoroge.
According to sources, aware of Kuria’s intention of running for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat in 2022, Kiambu governor Ferdinard Waititu had been reluctant issuing a permit for the ceremony to be held at Ruiru stadium.
According to Sonko who does not see eye-to-eye with his Kiambu counterpart, Kuria had sought the services of Maina Njenga and the area MCA for mobilisation.
However, people in the know say that Njoroge, the proprietor of Airwaves Land Buying Company is from Kuria’s Gatundu South and wants to succeed Kuria as MP 2022. William Kabogo has kept many guessing if he will go for presidency or fight to win the seat he lost to Waititu. Senator Kimani Wamatangi is also eyeing the seat just like Waititu deputy James Nyoro. Nyoro has fallen out with the governor.
