A lawyer has sued Attorney General Paul Kihara and the Kakamega county land registrar in a land tussle case.
Lawyer Anthony Lubulellah claims that the county has grabbed his land despite having a 99-year lease and now is demanding land rates from him.
The land was allotted to him in 1992 and has been annexed to Bukhungu Stadium forcing him to stop paying rates. To fix him, he has been listed among land rate defaulters. The land in question is Kakamega Municipality/Block 111/2. It was allotted to Lubulellah by the Commissioner of Lands in 1992.
The county in its reply claims that the lawyer owes the county Sh11,855,319 in land rates and further claims that he had failed to meet the lease conditions after the acquisition. He has further failed to develop the land as dictated in the lease for last 25 years
