With the ODM nominations expected in February next year, a list of ODM’s preferred gubernatorial, senatorial, MP, women rep and MCAs said to be recommended by a group of politicians said to sway party leader Raila Odinga is in circulation. The group of ODM aspirants which rotates around ODM director of elections Junnet Mohammed and party chairman John Mbadi are pushing Raila to approve it. The cartel was the brains behind lobbying and convincing Raila to accept and back the party-hopping bill in paliarment.
They feared if their opponents are allowed to defect after losing, they are likely to floor them as it happened in 2013 polls. It is said, the one-time disbandment of the ODM national election board was seen as a plot by some Raila close allies who wanted to take control of the party nominations and to ensure only candidates of their choice gets the party ticket. Many now want Junnet political office scrapped.
Start on the list of anointed ODM aspirants is Raila’s Bondo constituency. Oburu will be the ODM candidate and has of late engaged the incumbent Ochanda in serious political duel. He is known to have compromised all the MCAs from the constituency.
