Laikipia women representative Catherine Waruguru who is leading William Ruto’s troops in the county is fighting for political survival.
She recently claimed her life was in danger due her close association with Ruto and even went ahead to report the threats to the Director of Criminal Investigations.
She said besides the threats, she had been insulted for supporting the DP openly.
“There are those who opposed the government and the handshake between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga who are now calling me Tanga Tanga. My name is Catherine. I represent the Jubilee government and it is not good when you discuss my dressing and body structure,” she lamented.
The legislator asked Interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i to beef up her security as sinister motives were being hatched to put her in check.
Her support for Proxbox vehicle operators has seen her opponents bring on board matatu operators in the region.

Matatu operators hold mock burial for Laikipia women rep Cate Waruguru

Drunk and drugged touts and drivers held a mock burial of the Jubilee politician.
Staggering and making incoherent noises, they carried a dummy coffin which they buried at the bus stage.
“I’m now urging the bonafide matatu owners to organise a prayer meeting to pray for the touts. I forgive the perpetrators for the heinous act of burying a coffin at the bus park. We call upon the religious community to hold a prayer meeting to cleanse the bus park and all the matatus in general,” she said.
“I’m and will always be a voice for the voiceless people of Laikipia. Today’s demo turned out to be political rivalry about business lamentations. This was with the help of enemies of the people of Laikipia disguised in the name of democracy and freedom of demonstrations and picketing,” she added.
Mid last month, Waruguru was briefly detained at Nanyuki Police Station over alleged incitement.
Laikipia legislators backing Ruto include Amin Mohamed, Laikipia East, Korere Paulata, Laikipia North and Patrick Kariuki, Laikipia West.
Recently, Waruguru accused senate minority leader James Orengo of being a bangi smoker. Laikipia governor is Nderitu Mureithi, a nephew of former president Mwai Kibaki.
Addressing the press, Waruguru warned Orengo of not letting go old habits activism from 1980s terming his latest move to initiate a motion in parliament to impeach Ruto as uncalled for and mere drama from the once respected lawyer.
“I want to tell Orengo to mind his own business as he can’t intimidate us. He should stop the witchhunt on the DP. We will expose his scandalous character touching on land grabbing and abandoned children,” she said.
She further vowed to undress Orengo if such a motion is tabled in parliament and the senate seeking the impeachment of the DP.
“I first heard about Orengo while in Class 3 in GHC. The way he behaved while a student is the same way he is still behaving. Don’t try ladies, my friend, or we will be forced to expose you,” she said.
