How ODM MCA used charms, slaughtered monkey to win poll

Drama unfolded last week at a Narok court after a man proclaiming to be a witchdoctor confessed that he slaughtered a monkey and performed rituals to enable MCA Wilfred Kuyo of ODM to win Olposimoru ward seat in the August 8 general elections.

They agreed on a fee of KES 500,000.00, but the MCA changed to KES 20,000.00 after winning, of which he paid KES 3,000.00 only.

Sources say the witchdoctor, Robert Mwongela, who was testifying in an election petition filed by the immediate former MCA Wilson Masikonde of Jubilee claimed that he was among the four sorcerers hired to ensure the ODM candidate won. Mwongela hails from Kitui county.

It is now claimed that Mwongela agreed to testify against his client after the MCA failed to pay him as agreed. He said they had a deal with Kuyo that should he clinch the seat after the acts,  he would pay him a sum of Sh500,000 but after winning, he declined to pay the debt but only gave him Sh20,000.

He further revealed that after the MCA won the seat, he travelled to Narok to see his client to collect the agreed amount but he was only given Sh3,000 and was promised to travel back for the balance at a later date but the MCA no longer answers his calls.

While testifying before Narok Court Principal Magistrate Tito Gesora, he said he performed the 12-hour ritual on August 2 2018 at the home of the then aspirant MCA. “On that night, I slaughtered a black Columbus monkey in the homestead of my client and made him to lie naked in his compound. Later, I applied the blood of the monkey mixed with its fur and herbs on his body,” he narrated in the fully-packed court room. Asked on how they caught the Columbus monkey, the sorcerer told the court that he gave the MCA a charm that attracted the monkey to his compound where he tied its legs and took it to his home for the ritual.

He said he tied the monkey skin around the waist and wrist of Kuyo so as to woo people to his side as well as to make those who came in contact with him to vote in his favour. The witchdoctor said the move worked ‘magic’.

Many however dismiss him as a conman and wonder why, if indeed he has powers, he is not using them to make the MCA pay.
