Greed for power and money has rocked Kakamega county assembly members with infighting threatening to tear apart Amani National Congress party as the fight for minority position gains momentum.
The position is held by West Kabras MCA David Ndakwa but now members want him out saying he is too soft to face the county governor Wycliffe Oparanya as the official opposition leader in the assembly.
They also accused Ndakwa of failing to fight for his members to be given mortgages.
Those pushing for his removal are led by Lugari MCA Musa Makhapila and nominated MCA Jackline Okanya, who have resorted to seeking court assistance to help in their ouster plan that seems to have hit a dead end.
This is the third unsuccessful attempt by the same members of county assembly who may have to try another time as the house leadership is still intact after the party intervention through its national secretary Barrack Muluka who went ahead to suspend Okanya from the assembly and wrote to the registrar of parties office to strike her name from the party list and now she is surviving on a court reinstatement.
Okanya is the second wife of ANC Kakamega county chairman David Malala who is the father of county senator

Cleophas Malala and her nomination to the assembly was met with opposition from party members who accused Malala of turning the party into personal property by rewarding his girlfriend the position.
We have since established that there is the hand of the Malala family in the ouster as they want to be part of the county top leadership then head to national probably giving one of their family member a nomination slot in the national assembly.
Just like the son, Malala’s name has on many occasions featured in controversial dealings and he was at one time said to have embezzled funds for Orange Democratic Movement party when he was in the county top leadership before he was toppled forcing him to seek refuge in ANC.
In the new lineup, MCA Walter Andati was to take over as the county minority leader with Okanya being the chief whip but the deal has turned sour on them.
Makhapila was being used by the Malala family to accomplish their mission.
They are said to have received colossal amount of money from various politicians to facilitate several hotel meetings with promises of support as they are said to be broke.
The name of William Ruto widely featured as he is believed to be yearning for support from the ANC party wing having been able to buy out most ODM party members who have now been turned into flower girls dancing for him whenever he tours Western.
Ndakwa is a supporter of ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi who just like Ruto is eyeing the country’s top position and is said to be among the funders of the party activities in the county.
