Kasipul MP Ong’ondo Were is on the rampage launching mega projects in his constituency as his political haters burn midnight oil scheming for his downfall ahead of 2022 general elections.
The ODM legislature last week launched the construction of two major water projects aimed at cushioning over 2,000 locals from perennial shortage of the precious commodity.
Mawira Community Water Project in Kokech Location and Soko Kawino Spring Water project in West Kamagak Location are undertaken by Lake Victoria South Water Works Development at Agency at a cost of sh 10 million each.
But despite the notably projects and good working relationship with voters, his perceived haters have remained critical of his leadership style and are said to be plotting against his second term bid.
Previously, in the last one month the MP launched another two water projects at Kotieno in South Kasipul and Kamiera at the tune of sh 8 million and sh10 million respectively.
Both projects have been drilled and waiting for equipping and consequent pipping to water towers.
The MP who sits in the environment and natural resources mobilized top government officials including the ministry CS to preside over the forthcoming launching of Oyugis Water supply and sanitization project to serve within the town.
The project jointly funded by the GOK and African Development bank has been hailed as an innovative step to render water and sewage nightmares in Oyugis a thing of the past
He has however dismissed his attackers terming them failures with selfish political interest.
The MP accused Homabay gubernatorial loser Joseph Oyugi Mwgwanga campaign team of sponsoring back to back propaganda against him in retaliation to a decision in which he defended the victory of governor Cyprian Awiti.
According to analysts, the first time MP has become a darling of the voters following some of the impressive CDF projects under his short stint in the office.
He boasts of successful construction of modern police camps, chief and assistant chief offices in line with his vision of ensuring beefed up security.
In a bid to promote quality education, the MP has ensured an arrangement where a whooping sh 10,000 is channeled to every bursary beneficiary as well as setting up ICT centre in every ward to tap the talents of youth.
Since the outbreak of COVID19 pandemic, Were has been actively coordinating control measures in his constituency through donation of food stuff and other essential gestures.
The MP revealed that he would launch more projects in subsequent financial years and called on his voters to embark on serious farming as chief income generating activity.
