Following the Government directive to Airtel and Safaricom to withdraw Betting paybill numbers,  Safaricom has blocked deposit transactions of Companies that have not complied with the government regulations as of July 1st.

The Government, through Interior CS, had issued an ultimatum of 1/07/2019 for all betting companies operating in Kenya to comply with all regulations or have their licenses suspended.

It was noted that the firms were making combined profits of more than 200 billion yet they could only remit almost 4 billion in taxes.

Early Thursday  the BCLB directed that customers of the affected Betting Companies withdraw their sums within 48 hours, and true to the directive the Paybill numbers have been deactivated.

The response from Safaricom is for the user to contact the Betting Company which has affected the 27 blacklisted firms.
