Tharaka Nithi deputy governor Francis Kagwima is now acting governor after Governor Muthomi Njuki was barred from office. Kagwima’s inauguration was held at the governor’s office in Kathwana Municipality. Word is that Kagwima who is likely to act in the office for the remainder of the term is likely to run come 2022.
During the function, those present were ward representatives Susan Ngugi (Marimanti), Charles Nyaga (Mitheru), Margaret Gitari (Chogoria) and Denis Mutwiri (Mugwe). The presence of former Nithi MP Petkay Miriti and businessman Muthomi left many guessing.
The MCAs present thanked EACC for arresting and charging Governor Njuki for alleged looting of county funds as Kagwima laughed. Kagwima was at war with the embattled governor with word he is planning to have him impeached. Kagwima was MP for Tharaka constituency from 1988 to 1997 and re-elected 2002.
