A multimillion Kenya Power street lighting project between Sagana and Samson Corner areas in Kirinyaga have been vandalised. Locals want Governor Ann Waiguru to help restore the lights they promoting business and fighting insecurity.
Some sections of the area between Kagio town and Njegas have no lighting thus prone to crime.
According to James Mureithi Kang’ara, who is the county Jubilee party vice chair and a director with Tana Athi Water Services Board, the county security team need to move fast on the issue.
Kenya Power company spent Sh50 million in February this year in the installation of the street lights in preparation for the Devolution Conference which took place in Kirinyaga.
Operationalisation of the street project was also envisaged to enable the residents benefit from 24-hour economy and safe.
