Procurement of drugs has come to haunt the Trans Nzoia County where payment of essential drugs amounting  Sh44,729,661 was done but drugs were not seen. The payment was not supported by necessary procurement records among them requisition from users, tender advertisement, tender opening minutes and those of evaluation committee.

Drugs worth Sh28,679,203 from Kemsa were procured. However, how they were distributed is a mystery.

Ann Cement Ltd was paid Sh 47,250,000 towards procurement of fertiliser for farmers. The manner in which requisition from users and those who benefited has raised eyebrows. Thus the propriety of Sh 47,250,000 cannot be confirmed.

Sh18,602,260 was used for the procurement of laboratory reagents. Bioscan diagnostics Sh12,009,910, Hemocue Kenya Ltd Sh3,700,000 and Bonster Enterprises Sh2,892,350. The auditor has raised issues with accuracy, of the money used after failing to avail audit verification.

Construction and acquisition of assets has also been raised. Sh8,201,993 was for storage construction, which was breach of the law.

Proposed construction of main bus park and market. Sh198,644,090 was to be used on bus park construction. A private firm was contracted instead of public works department with the cost running to Sh287,721,107. The project was to be extended for four months and delay in completion has seen price escalation.
