It was a scene to behold during a burial as Carol Buyela, the Bungoma county special programmes adviser, and Ndivisi MCA Martin Wanyonyi verbally tore into each other. “When they give you a chance to lead other people, always be honest, and you will receive all the blessings,” Buyela told Wanyonyi.
“Webuye East constituency is a cosmopolitan region so stop causing divisions amongst our people,” she thundered on. She called on the ward leader to stop dividing leaders because of personal interests. “Tulikuonea huruma tukakuchagua wacha kutugawanisha,” she said. Wanyonyi hit back saying that Buyela is a county employee and should concentrate on serving people instead of indulging in politics. “You are a county employee, stop causing the Bukusu, Tachoni rifts, we are all servants of the people, stop getting involved in politics,” said the independent ward leader.
The two leaders faced off during the burial of Pastor Pepela at Masai village, Sinoko location in Webuye East constituency. The two leaders are in political camps with Wanyonyi and his group supporting Bungoma senator Moses Wetang’ula while Buyela supports the coup plotters led by Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati, Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi and Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu. Word has it that Wanyonyi has been instrumental in the coup, and changes of the Tachoni council of elders leadership.
