Why Ruto was chased from official Mombasa residence

Facts have emerged as to why senior government officials based at office of the president blocked Deputy President William Ruto from staying at his official residence in Mombasa last week.

The residence’s improvements were done by office of the DP and are located at the former home of coast provincial commissioner.

Word has it, President Uhuru Kenyatta security team was briefed that Ruto was to host a number of delegation at the residence.

The residence is just meters away from State House.

One of the delegations was from Taita Taveta County.

After the orders to vacate, Ruto was forced to host the Taita Taveta delegation at his vast ranch located in Taita County.

Uhuru handlers read mischief in Ruto decision  to occupy the residence when President has been running the government affairs in Mombasa since Christmas festive.

Other sources say, Ruto did not inform Uhuru he was visiting Mombasa and his move was seen as undermining the President.

While in Mombasa, Uhuru held talks with Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi, Joe Mucheru, James Macharia, Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, DPP Haji and DCI George Kinoti.

It’s said, Ruto wanted to coordinate his 2022 presidential and Jubilee expected polls at the residence.

The DP and his men had already moved in the residence with belongings only to be ordered out.

To the surprise of Ruto allies, Uhuru over the weekend met Raila Odinga in Mombasa leading to the gazzetment of the extension of BBI team to June 30-2020.
